Shoulder Sleeve Insignia

Description
On a blue disc 2 3/4 inches (6.99 cm) in diameter a white star 15/16 inch (2.38 cm) in diameter charged with a 5/16 inch (.79 cm) red disc in the center and with golden orange stylized wings below a golden orange Arabic number 15 11/16 inch (1.75 cm) in height, all within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) golden orange annulet 2 9/16 inch (6.51 cm) outside diameter.

Symbolism
The insignia is in the colors of the Air Forces.  The white star with the red center together with the wings indicates that it is an organization of the Army Air Forces, while the number 15 is the numerical designation of the organization.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was approved on 19 February 1944.
